    Source: How It's Made

Pepsi Ice Midwest offers many different types of hockey programs from youth to adult. Pepsi Ice Midwest has a Learn to Play Hockey program for ages three to adult. Students start in a Learn to Skate class first, where they learn the basics fundamentals of skating. After passing two of the Learn to Skate classes they graduate to a Stick and Helmet class, where they learn how to shoot, pass, stick handle, and a general knowledge of the rules of hockey. Once our students have passed the Stick and Helmet class they are ready to join the Kansas City Stars or our Adult leagues.

    The Kansas City Stars

The Kansas City Stars is the youth organization that plays out of Pepsi Ice Midwest. The Stars are a non-profit organization. The Stars were formed in 1998 and have been the premiere organization for the past ten years. The Kansas City Stars have two types of teams in their organization. The first of which is their house teams. The house teams are designed for new played coming into the organization, or for players who do not want to travel. The second type of team in the Kansas City Stars organization is their travel teams. They teams are designed for elite players who are looking to progress to the next level of their playing career. These teams travel across the country to play in games and tournaments.

The Stars website is here. Mary Helmick has been in charge of the Kansas City Stars for the past few years. Her contact information can be for on the Stars website.

    Adult Hockey

Fees include ice rental, referees, scorekeepers, team and league fees and Championship awards. Each team needs a player/representative to be responsible for their team and to sit on a league committee. The league committee, along with a rink representative, will decide on any policies, suspensions or penalties per USA Hockey rules and help facilitate communication with the membership.

Individuals can register with our in-house team if space is available. All Adult or High School hockey participants must be registered with USA Hockey individually, which is $36 and is good for the year (Sept - Aug.) Individuals who are not insured with USA Hockey or are coming up for renewal will be required to go online to www.usahockeyregistration.com and register themselves and provide the league coordinator with a copy of their receipt.
